OPCON offers a wide array of special effects products for explosive blast simulation, smoke simulation, and flash simulation. All products are manufactured and assembled by our staff in San Marcos, Texas.

Threat Representation Systems are platform-specific training assets designed to replicate adversary weapons, effects, and employment methods within Force-on-Force or Force-on-Target training environments.

 

Built on OPCON’s EXS-Series architecture, these systems provide realistic visual and audio cues that mirror real-world threat capabilities, enabling units to train detection, identification, and tactical response under conditions that closely reflect modern battlefield adversaries—without the risks associated with live munitions.

Drone Strike Effects

The Drone Strike Effects Simulation System (DSESS) is a fully self-contained, mountable training platform engineered to replicate the terminal effects of modern unmanned aerial threats. Built around OPCON’s EXS-80 effects architecture, DSESS delivers synchronized blast impulse, flash, acoustic signature, and impact cues at the point of strike—without deploying live munitions or airborne systems.

Designed for vehicle, structure, and bunker emplacement, DSESS enables units to train against realistic FPV drone attacks, drone-delivered munitions, and loitering munition impacts within controlled, repeatable scenarios. The system integrates into existing ranges and facilities, supports scripted or instructor-initiated injects, and allows rapid reset between iterations—supporting sustained, high-tempo training.

Explosive Blast Simulators

OPCON offers a robust catalog of Explosive Blast Simulators designed to replicate any size or type of explosion. All simulators are Oxygen/Propane gas initiated and equipped with patent-pending gas mixing and arc-firing technologies ensuring powerful, reliable, and safe blast simulation at a fraction the cost of traditional black powder training aids.

SIM-Series Devices

The SIM-Series is a family of modular simulation devices designed to inject realistic battlefield effects into military training environments. These systems deliver controlled visual, auditory, and sensory effects that enhance immersion, disrupt situational awareness, and increase cognitive load during training.

Built for rapid deployment and repeatable execution, SIM-Series devices enable trainers to shape the training environment in real time, supporting force-on-force, urban operations, mounted and dismounted scenarios, and multi-domain training evolutions.

Audio Effects Integration

The Scenario Audio Training System – Command-Controlled (SATS-C2) is a self-contained, wireless audio effects platform designed to deliver synchronized battlefield and operational sound cues across static and semi-permanent training environments.

 

Commanded in real time or through scripted scenarios, SATS-C2 enables instructors to shape the auditory battlefield, reinforce training tempo, and enhance scenario realism while integrating seamlessly into existing ranges and TADSS-enabled facilities.

PuCS  /   Powder Containment Shells

Powder Containment Shells are designed to be used in conjunction with OPCON simulators. When placed on top, the user is able to achieve different blast effects depending on the PuCS type: Earth, Target, Night-fire, CBRN, White Phosphorus.

EXS-400 Range Enclosure Box

The Blast Cart is a fully self-contained mobile cart system for the EXS-80. It is lined with non-flammable material and designed to raise the blast simulator off the ground to be fired out of windows to replicate backdraft or building impact.
