Threat Representation Systems are platform-specific training assets designed to replicate adversary weapons, effects, and employment methods within Force-on-Force or Force-on-Target training environments.
Built on OPCON’s EXS-Series architecture, these systems provide realistic visual and audio cues that mirror real-world threat capabilities, enabling units to train detection, identification, and tactical response under conditions that closely reflect modern battlefield adversaries—without the risks associated with live munitions.
Robotically Operated Battlefield Immersion/Effects
R.O.B.I.E.
A mobile battlefield immersion platform built on the MVP Robotics architecture, designed to introduce movement, unpredictability, and adaptive stimulus into military training environments. R.O.B.I.E. supports autonomous and semi-autonomous operation, allowing it to maneuver throughout the training area, reposition dynamically, and operate in coordination with training objectives.
Capable of traversing the training environment and following units as scenarios evolve, R.O.B.I.E. adds a living element to otherwise static ranges—forcing continuous situational awareness, real-time decision-making, and response to changing conditions during each training iteration.
Force-on-Target
80mm Mortar
The 80mm Mortar System is a threat representation system designed to mirror the physical profile and battlefield use of an 80mm mortar in force-on-target training. Integrated on OPCON’s EXS-Series platform, it delivers realistic visual, audio, and blast effects at the point of impact without the use of live munitions.
The upper mortar tube is a removable, replaceable component intended to be swapped quickly if impacted or damaged during training, while the lower assembly contains the protected EXS-Series hardware and is positioned behind cover. This configuration allows units to engage, identify, and react to mortar threats in a realistic training environment while maintaining safety, durability, and rapid reset between iterations.
Force-on-Force
60/80mm Mortar
The 60mm and 80mm Mortar Systems for Force-on-Force training are mobile threat representation systems designed to replicate the appearance and employment of mortar systems operated by a dismounted opposing force. Built as a single, solid assembly on OPCON’s EXS-Series platform, the system is optimized for durability and rapid repositioning during live exercises.
Integrated with OPCON’s lightweight backpack deployment system, these systems can be carried, emplaced, displaced, and re-employed by training units or an OPFOR team to accurately simulate mobile mortar tactics. The system delivers controlled visual, audio, and blast effects without live munitions, enabling realistic counter-mortar detection, reaction, and maneuver training while maintaining safety, repeatability, and high training tempo.
